Mục đích: Thay vì cài cả Oracle Client size từ 1.2-1.5GB thì chỉ cần cài đúng công cụ cần dùng (ví dụ SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Data pump, ...) dung lượng chỉ 50-100MB/gói Instance Client là có thể dung các công cụ phía Client như SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Datapump,...

Các bước cài đặt trên máy chủ Solaris hoặc Linux:
- Download gói Instant Client phù hợp với OS Ví dụ cần cài SQL*Loader thì down Tools Package: 19c: https://download.oracle.com/otn_software/solaris/instantclient/1913000/instantclient-tools-solaris.sparc64-19.13.0.0.0dbru.zip 12.2: https://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/instantclient/122010/instantclient-tools-solaris.sparc64-12.2.0.1.0.zip
- Giải nén "instantclient" vào
unzip
ví dụ ở /export/home/oracle/
- Thiết lập library loading path vào thư mục ở bước 2 ("instantclient"). Với UNIX, thiết lập biến môi trường LD_LIBRARY_PATH với Windows thiết lập biến PATH:

- Thiết lập biến PATH
